Art to Inspire Our Collective Evolution

The Jade Oracle: Deities & Symbols of Ancient Mexico

Cover Image Web Small.jpg

I am illustrating a deck of oracle cards!

"What are oracle cards?" you may be wondering. Like tarot cards, they are essentially a spiritual tool used for divination and introspection. The difference is they are not structured by traditional tarot suits and hierarchies. Instead, these oracle cards are an assortment of archetypal symbols and deities from Ancient Mexico. There will be 52 beautifully illustrated cards accompanied by a booklet that guides you through understanding the mythology and interpretations of the cards.

The deck will be called "The Jade Oracle" and is a collaboration with myself and two amazing women, Anne Key and Veronica Iglesias. Anne is a priestess, a scholar, an author, a dancer and an incredibly inspiring woman. Veronica is a healer from Mexico City, a Keeper of the Ancient Knowledge, an historian, and a deeply connected spiritual guide. I am so excited to be working along side these goddesses.

The Jade Oracle is now live on Kickstarter!

We've finished our pitch video, written up our story, set our reward tiers, lit some candles and palo santo incense, and said our prayers to the powerful deities of pre-Hispanic Mexican lore.

And at last... we've officially launched our Kickstarter campaign!

Join the community of backers who are pledging donations toward this unique creative dream. This powerful deck of oracle cards is coming together in divine timing and we are so appreciative of your support in helping to bring them into this world.

Bee Mural @ The Buzz

I'm excited to be coming out of my cocoon and reconnecting with the community. After gratefully accepting an opportunity to paint a mural, Zena and I have been visiting the wall this past week and working on the beginnings of some fresh public art. It feels great to be painting large scale again! The mural is at a very exciting new community venue called The Buzz. It is a newly renovated event space, gallery and community headquarters erected at The Hive - a compound of apartments in the heart of the student ghetto of Albuquerque. After laying the background honeycomb pattern, I did some live painting during the grand opening event while enjoying lots of great music and visiting with many good friends. It was a sweet event and I look forward to more happenings at The Buzz. I am hoping to plan a workshop in the new space, possibly before the end of the year. I'll be sure to announce it when the plans come together! In the meantime I have lots of work to do on the mural and I will share pictures when it is complete!

First Day at the Market

Last weekend was my first time setting up shop at the Albuquerque Downtown Growers' Market. It was a beautiful day at Robinson Park and the market was very well attended. I had a really positive response to my jewelry and folks were especially excited about my new line of up-cycled bike tire tube lighter cases! The art prints didn't sell too well, and I think I know why: my customers want originals. So my next project is to whip up some small and affordable original mandala paintings to spruce up my art collection for the summer markets. Stay tuned to see what I come up with. And come visit me bi-weekly at the ABQ Downtown Growers' Market!
